Directions
10 minutes from Bath city centre, accommodation at Burghope Manor is conveniently placed for your visit. With good access to the M3, M4 and M5 motorways and on the main train line from London Paddington, Burghope is also within easy reach of Heathrow, Gatwick and Bristol International Airports.
The following information should be useful in getting you to Burghope Manor, but if you would like more detailed information, see the map links at the end of this section.
From Bath City Centre
Take the A36 Warminster Road out of Bath. Follow it straight until after approximately 4 miles, turn left at the first set of traffic lights on the B3108 Bradford-on-Avon / Winsley road. Follow the B3108 along under the railway bridge and up the hill to Winsley. At the start of the by-pass, take first right, signposted Turleigh and Winsley. After 100 metres turn left into a small lane marked 'Except for Access'. When you turn into the lane you have a high wall on your left hand. This is the boundary wall of the grounds of Burghope Manor. Follow the wall up the lane and you will see the manor gates straight in front. From London (& the East)
M4 WEST Exit JUNCTION 17 to Chippenham. Take A350 taking the Chippenham Western by-pass. At the roundabout take A4 Bath Road to Corsham. Then take B3109 from Corsham to Bradford-on-Avon and then the B3108 to Winsley village. When entering the village you will pass a war memorial and 100 metres later the Seven Stars Inn. Follow the road for another 200 yards and take the next lane on your right. You will se Burghope's gates at the end. For extra directions see map links at the end of this section.
Alternative Route
M3 WEST - Leave the motorway at the exit for the A303 - Stay on the A303 until the exit for the A36. Remain on the A36 via Salisbury and Warminster until you reach B3108 Bradford-on-Avon/Winsley road - the turning will be recognised by traffic lights at the Viaduct. Turn right at the lights onto the B3108 along under the railway bridge and up the hill to Winsley. At the start of the by-pass, take first right, signposted Turleigh and Winsley. From the North
M5 SOUTH Exit JUNCTION 15, M4 EAST Exit JUNCTION 18 A46 Bath and take the new western by-pass to Corsham and then B3109 to Bradford on Avon. From Bradford on Avon take the B3108 to Winsley village. When entering the village you will pass a war memorial on your left and 100 metres later the Seven Stars Pub. Follow the road for another 200 yards and take the next lane on your right. By Coach
The national coach network runs between the major cities. Bath is well served by its coach station in the centre of the city.
By Rail
High-speed trains operate between many cities and Bath - regular services operate from London's Paddington station (90 minutes). Bath also has numerous direct rail links including routes to Bristol (17 minutes), Cardiff, Oxford, Salisbury and Southampton, and connections to the rest of the national rail network via Bristol Temple Meads. From London | |
Car
|
Try to avoid leaving London by car between 4pm and 7.00pm, especially on Friday evening. The journey can be much longer. You can take either the M3 or M4 motorways to reach Burghope Manor, though personally the M4 is preferable. |
Coach
|
Coaches leave from Victoria Coach Station. Journey time approximately 2 1/2 hours. |
Train
|
Trains leave from London Paddington and London Waterloo. Journey time approximately 80 minutes. |
From Heathrow | |
Train
|
There is a rail connection the "Heathrow Express" from Heathrow to London Paddington (Train) Station runs every 15 minutes. Trains from Paddington to Bath are at 20 minute intervals during the day. |
Underground
|
Take the underground Piccadilly line direct from Heathrow to Earls Court and change to the District line to go northbound to Paddington (Train Station) or eastbound to Victoria (Coach Station). For further assistance with the underground visit londontransport.co.uk. |
Coach
|
A coach connection from Heathrow goes direct to Reading station where trains can be caught to Bath. |
From Gatwick | |
Train | Take the "Gatwick Express", disembark at Victoria and then take the underground via the Circle Line to Paddington; to catch trains to Bath. |
Coach | As above disembark at Victoria and then take a coach direct from Victoria Coach Station, where connections can be made to Bath. Coaches can be taken directly to Heathrow if required. |
From Bristol City Centre | |
Train | There are regular trains until mid-evening from Bristol Temple Meads train station. |
Coach | National Express coaches run from the Coach Station in the centre of Bristol. |
Bus | Regular buses can be caught to Bath from the city centre and outside Bristol Temple Meads. The x39 is the express service to Bath from Bristol. |
